Theme

Every book has a theme, what is a theme? It is the main idea of the book and what everything adds up to. In the book Th1rteen R3asons why is; many little things can add up to a big thing. This girl, Hannah that commits suicide, had many little things happen to her and as the book refers to it, everything all "snowballs". By this the narrator is referring to all these little reasons create one big problem. The solution to Hannah's problem was killing herself. Many of these people didn't do anything they thought would influence her on killing herself.. Things like being on the "hot or not list" being under the category or nicest butt, someone peeping through her winder, the guy she had a first kiss with and 10 more reasons. The all added up to the thirteen reasons why Hannah killed herself, which everyone will soon know about after listening to these tapes.
In this story the narrator was one of her friends, who is listening to all these tapes in the story; never thought any of this would ever happen. He didn't even know she was bothered by these things. Sure he knew she didn't like it but he didn't think it was that big of a deal to her. Many people in real life have a bunch of little things go wrong in a day which creates one to have a "bad day". But for Hannah, this wasn't just a bad day, this ended her life, and changed what a lot for her close friends and family. One decision like this can change a whole family. Sometimes when a child creates suicide, it changes a whole family, a whole school and many friends. Take nothing for granted, you don't know how big of a deal whatever you do can impact on a person’s life or attitude. A simple smile can make someone's day!
